‘Brooklyn gets all the attention, people ask for a photo and it’s me taking it!’ Brooklyn’s dad David has revealed his eldest son has overtaken him in the popularity stakes
Just days before Brooklyn’s Instagram post, his footballing hero dad David, 40, admitted that his edgy son is much cooler than him.
The doting father-of-four told how there’d been a striking role-reversal between him and Brooklyn in a interview with Manchester radio station KEY 103, saying more often than not it’s the teenager who fans want to be snapped with while he’s been demoted to camera-man.
Talking to hosts Mike Toolan and Chelsea Norris, he said: ‘It’s interesting going out with him though because he gets so much attention when we’re out.
‘We normally get people now coming up and saying, “would you mind taking a picture with me?”, and they’re actually talking to Brooklyn rather than myself. And I’m the one that takes the picture!’

The ex-Manchester United skipper went on to share a funny anecdote about having the dreaded ‘birds and the bees’ chat with his first born.
He said: ‘I’ve definitely given him relationship advice. Obviously he’s 16 years old so a few years back we had the talk. But Victoria was in the room and we kind of had a chuckle and he was kind of looking at me as if to say, “why you doing this in front of Mum?!”‘
However, he understands he’s a growing man and he’s conscious about being over-protective as he finds his feet on the dating scene.

Daddy’s little girl: David confessed he will be pulling no punches when it comes to his only daughter Harper’s teenage years
Revealing the truth behind a recent story which claimed both he and wife Victoria spied on Brooklyn during his first date, he said: ‘Victoria was actually in London at the time and I was sat five tables behind him while he was on his first date. Don’t worry about that, when it comes to my little girl’s first date I’ll be right next to her!’
On the subject of his precious four-year-old daughter Harper, he said, ‘she can definitely handle herself’.
‘I’m very happy that she’s got three bigger brothers and her dad as well to look after her,’ he finished.
Since retiring from his beloved sport in 2013, David has relished spending more time with his four children – Brooklyn, Harper, and Romeo, 13, and Cruz, 10, as well as supporting Victoria and her world-renowned fashion line and launching his own range of whisky.
On Wednesday, he cut a dapper figure as he attended a Haig Club launch party in Madrid, Spain, proudly representing the brand which has had a helping hand from his good friend Guy Ritchie.
