But, according to reports, Simon Cowell was a caring shoulder for Nick Grimshaw to lean on after he got a lukewarm reception from X Factor viewers, this week.
The Mirror say that Simon, 56, consoled the Radio 1 DJ after the show’s audience said they missed the Irish judge – and wanted him back.

‘I don’t think it is that fair,’ he said. ‘He really has tried his best. He hasn’t got an ego but what none of us anticipated – and I said this to Nick – is how much people like Louis. So whoever took his seat was going to get a bit of stick.
‘I think there was a moment where he got a little bit down, and we had a conversation.
‘He wasn’t angry it just made him more determined to do his job. I said to him, his job is to mentor a category now and he just had to focus on that and be yourself. I think Nick is going to be better than you think on the live shows, that is my gut feeling.’

The comments come after a seemingly shaky start for the northerner – and critical comments from Louis himself.
Last month the 63-year-old music mogul hit out at the saying he is ‘not sure’ about his presence on the ITV talent show.
He told the Daily Star on Sunday: ‘ I’m not sure about Grimshaw. I haven’t seen much of him. People don’t like change and I think they miss Dermot and maybe some people miss me.’

The new look show has faced a series of issues since its launch last month, as ratings have dwindled with more and more viewers turning to X Factor rival, Strictly Come Dancing.
Las weekend the BBC One ballroom series drew an average audience of 7.83million with a 33.2 per cent share of the total TV audience.
Over on ITV, an average of 7.49million (including those watching on ITV +1) were glued to X Factor’s six chair challenge, which achieved a share of 32.4 per cent.
